With the help of a clinical interview, we establish the purpose and goals of the psychological examination. Psychometric tests will be chosen based on the results of the interview. These tests help to evaluate a person’s intellectual capability, learning processes, attention and memory, academic achievement, emotional and/or behavioral functioning and projective associations, and always accompanied with in vivo observations. We can also use self-report surveys, parent and third party checklists. One or two testing sessions may be scheduled, dependent on the number of tests.
Psychological assessment involves the administration, scoring and interpretation of tests; it also requires the psychologist to prepare a written report and a session to review the results.
